PROBLEMS WHEN designing Mediterranean RESTAURANT

Mediterranean Restaurant is a tropical luxury–style dining venue where the beauty of the Mediterranean is softly reinterpreted through natural light, raw materials, and an open, airy layout. Across a floor area of more than 500 m², CO-IDB organized the space with a slow, gentle, and layered rhythm—creating a relaxing atmosphere that remains refined and elegant.

Design proposals for each category

Co-IDB proposed an interior design solution guided by the spirit of “authenticity, softness, and emotional resonance.” The space was restructured with an open layout and gentle circulation, incorporating arches, round columns, lime-plastered walls, and a primary color palette of white, blue, and terracotta.

Key Design Highlights

  • CO-IDB proposed a design concept rooted in minimalism with depth, leveraging distinctive Mediterranean architectural elements such as uniquely textured herringbone-effect wall finishes, raw terracotta bricks, and a nature-inspired color palette.

    1. Lobby & Reception Area – An Impressive Introduction

The entrance features exposed brick arches, with the restaurant logo crafted from handmade ceramics and terracotta-toned cement tile flooring. The reception counter is clad in sandstone, complemented by vintage-style glass wall sconces. Bamboo- and rattan-framed mirrors add a soft yet eye-catching accent.

    2. Dining Area – Coastal Inspiration

The dining space is divided into multiple seating clusters: long tables for groups, two-seat tables along the walls, and chairs upholstered in white linen with oak wood legs. The ceiling reveals exposed beams painted white, accented with mushroom-shaped terracotta pendant lights. Gently curved walls are highlighted with recessed niches and ceramic décor.

    3. Bar & Beverage Counter – A Visual Focal Point

The bar counter is finished with sea-blue mosaic tiles and a white stone countertop, paired with vintage-style metal glass racks. Circular pendant lights with woven rattan cords hang above, while open back-bar shelving with accent lighting creates depth. High bar stools in natural wood provide seating with a sense of privacy.

    4. Restrooms – Small Yet Full of Character

Warm earth-toned lime-plastered walls, a concrete vanity with countertop basins, and mirrors framed in natural wood define the space. Vintage-style wall lights and subtly patterned vintage floor tiles are used with restraint. Despite its compact size, the restroom maintains a distinctive character consistent with the overall interior.
