Co-IDB took on the challenge of renewing the COFCO office design, building it from a worn-out space into a modern and efficient workplace. Through accomplished design and build, we breathed new life into COFCO’s workspace, perfectly harmonizing functionality with their brand identity.
About COFCO
COFCO is a top company in the food and beverage industry in China, needed a refreshing office design. However, as time passed, their office space began to show signs of wear and tear. That’s when Co-IDB stepped in building a novel workspace.
COFCO Office Design Challenges
Over time, the office prompting the need for a redesign that would not only address these issues but also enhance the functionality and aesthetic of the workspace. Located in a premium area of the building with abundant natural light and a spacious layout, the COFCO office had significant potential. However, the passage of time had taken its toll, with elements like the ceiling, wooden floors, and carpets showing signs of deterioration. Moreover, the existing layout posed challenges, such as inefficient space utilization and outdated design features that limited interaction among employees.

Functional Zones
To address the challenges of the existing layout, Co-IDB focused on building the functional zones within the office. The server room was relocated to a more strategic position, improving traffic flow and freeing up valuable space for other areas. The pantry and lab were separated to eliminate the cluttered feel of the combined space, allowing each zone to serve its purpose more effectively. Co-IDB also removed the outdated high partitions between workstations, fostering better communication and interaction among employees. The worn-out carpets and wooden floors were replaced with modern, high-quality materials, refreshing the overall look of the office design. New display cabinets were added to showcase COFCO’s products without compromising space. Moreover, two new phone booths were built, providing private areas for calls and ensuring a quiet environment for focused work.

Reception Area
Co-IDB constructed a reception area that reflects COFCO's brand identity and creates a welcoming atmosphere. A half-height partition was used to separate the reception from the main work area, ensuring privacy for employees while maintaining an open feel. The company logo was prominently displayed on a white backdrop, making it stand out as a focal point. The reception desk was built in a vibrant orange hue inspired by the brand's logo, adding warmth and a welcoming vibe to the space.

Pantry
Co-IDB introduced several changes to enhance the space's functionality and atmosphere. Round tables and comfortable seating were added to encourage employee interaction during breaks, fostering a sense of community within the office. The color scheme in the pantry was inspired by COFCO's logo, with calming blue tones to promote clear thinking and invigorating orange accents to stimulate creativity. This design creates an ideal environment for employees to relax and recharge, boosting overall productivity.

Other Areas
In the remaining areas of the office, Co-IDB proposed adding seating near the large glass windows to take full advantage of the beautiful city views and natural light. This space serves as an ideal spot for employees to take a break, offering a peaceful retreat that helps them relax and return to work refreshed. Co-IDB successfully maximized the usable space within the COFCO office. The new design not only improves functionality but also aligns perfectly with COFCO’s brand identity.
